The demand of peanut increases from year to year of about 4.4%, while peanut production only increase by 2.5%. Increasing the production of peanuts can be done through raising the land area and/or the production. Peanut production area increases since 1969 until 2004, from about 200,000 ha to about 837,000 ha, or more than 200%. Approximately 60% of peanuts are cultivated in dry land. This shows that the contribution of dry land is in an adequate amount for peanut production at the national level.

Application of peanut cultivation technology in acid dry land of Rumbia Sub district, Lampung Tengah, gives result of 4.1-6.4 t/ha fresh pod, 18-83% higher compared to local farmer cultivation.
